High Trust & Low Trust Society

Both of those term are sociologic-anthropologic picture for society and opposing each other. I will explain for you:

  • High Trust Society: Society which its system is already running well and properly, law applied well which make trust between society’s members. Because of one assumption every rights and obligations of society will well-protected by the state with its law.
  • Low Trust Society: Society which its system is not running or its law is not applied well. There was distrustful situation between society member which arise suspicious each other. Society must struggle hard to gain their right, meanwhile on the other side there are many which disobey their obligations.

From those definitions, I think you can guess by yourself which one our society included on. I want to give you a little illustration, in Indonesia this picture we can portrait at the way we deal when buying something. Right. Just remember, how fussy we are when has intention to buy something, asking about anything, checking details, and then, we just don’t buy it. This situation will not happened at high trust society countries. If there are buyer which asking seller about their goods qualities –and the seller answer it-, buyer will give their trust because if the seller lie they just return that goods or report this case to police. Here in Indonesia we just can’t do that. Even law contract which made in front of officer can be deny. Often the official themselves involved in crime. Well!

But we must not hopeless. I started from myself. I try to trust anybody else, although in certain circumstances. I told as fool man because I trust someone else personally, but in reality he/she deceive me. In business, I got that several times. I just believe, at the end God will give reward. I try to do business –and live- cleanly, I hope the result is clean also. How about you?
